Last weekend was a very special one. It was not only my birthday but also a long really weekend due to a snow blizzard. Needless to say, my birthday party had to be postponed until the weather gets better, but I got to spend some great quality time at home with my parents –and they had a wonderful time themselves, I would say.
My dad couldn’t leave for the office, so he was forced to take a little holiday for the first time in years! On the first day he seemed upset, but he soon relaxed and enjoyed his unexpected vacation. He got into his robe and slippers and rediscovered the beauty of videogame-playing. I hadn’t seen him so excited about his Final Fantasy adventures since I was a little kid.
My mom, who is usually overwhelmed with work among housekeeping, shopping and correcting her pupils’ tests and questionnaires, had a very relaxed long weekend too. On the first day, she devoted herself to cleaning and tidying the house, but she quickly got it over with so she just chilled out the rest of the days. She cooked some of her favorite dishes, something she hadn’t done in ages. She loves cooking and she’s great at it!
As for me, I welcomed the snowed-in birthday right away. Hot cocoa and quiet reading by the fireplace, family breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, peaceful evenings together… what was there not to like?
